who can solve complex problems

Here is the news on news.com.au

However, the number is a riddle. You need to crack it in order to reveal the phone number. They claimed that it is so tough that no one has managed to crack it yet. This riddle is interesting and I decided to give it a go myself, based on the hint (36 in small text). This suggested that the number could be in base36. If that is the case, then each digit ranges from 0-9 and A-Z representing numbers from 0, 1, 2, .. 34, 35.

For example, B = 11 and P = 25

The weight of these 6 digits is 36^5, 36^4, 36^3, 36^2, 36^1 & 36^0, or 60466176, 1679616, 46656, 1296, 36, 1 respectively.

Converting this 1BP49B base36 number into base10 is to simply multiply their values by their weights and add them up.

= 1 x 36^5 + B x 36^4 + P x 36^3 + 4 x 36^2 + 9 x 36^1 + 11 x 36^0

= 1 x 60466176 + 11 x 1679616 + 25 x 46656 + 4 x 1296 + 9 x 36 + 11 x 1

= 80113871

Well, the phone number is +61 (02) 8011 3871.
